A HISTORY OF PROFESSIONALISM IN INCIDENT RESPONSE

The Boulder Incident Management Team (IMT) is a partnership of professionals who are trained and qualified in incident management. The team provides organizational structure and management staff to support large-scale emergency responses in Boulder County. Founded in 2010, the team has responded to events such as the Fourmile and Dome fires, the September 2013 Floods, the Cold Springs and Sunshine Fires, and other incidents across the state of Colorado.

Incident Management Teams (IMTs) assist jurisdictions with response and management of disasters when they exceed the capabilities of the jurisdiction to respond. Boulder’s ability to respond to an escalating incident of any type makes the team a critical resource when the community’s prevention and mitigation efforts are unable to limit the impacts of a disaster. Since 2010, the Boulder Incident Management Team has been providing Boulder with an incident management capability that can be called upon whenever disaster strikes our community.
